President and CEO Ken Greene Will Leave AAHOA in February

ATLANTA—AAHOA announced that President and CEO Ken Greene will be leaving the organization in February to pursue another opportunity. The AAHOA Board of Directors will immediately begin the search for his replacement. Greene was hired as interim president and CEO in June 2021, relinquishing the interim title in September. Greene will be leaving the AAHOA for another career opportunity at IBF Hospitality, based in Dallas, Texas, with his last day at the AAHOA being February 11, 2022.

“Ken has been instrumental in leading the AAHOA over the past few months, which has brought about a lot of change both at the AAHOA and in our industry,” said AAHOA President Vinay Patel. “We are grateful for the time he has spent at AAHOA and wish him nothing but continued success as he transitions to another opportunity.”

While at AAHOA, Greene oversaw the association’s return to in-person events, helped the organization develop its strategic plan, and made strategic hiring decisions, impacting company culture that will endure well beyond his tenure at AAHOA.

“When I made the decision to join the AAHOA, I came with every intention of helping to carry on the great tradition of the association,” said Greene. “If it wasn’t for this career change opportunity with IBF Hospitality, I wouldn’t be leaving this great organization. At IBF, I will focus on potential acquisitions and building a hotel REIT.”

Since June 2021, Greene has spent much of his time and resources re-staffing the organization, after several key departures presented an opportunity to strengthen the culture to focus on member priorities.

“We now have an incredibly strong and capable leadership team at AAHOA, and I know they will all continue to lead the organization through this time of transition,” said Patel. “I want to thank Ken for all he has done for the association and our members during what has been a transition period at AAHOA. Due to his efforts in building our new Executive Leadership Team, AAHOA will not miss a beat as we continue to prepare for another record year, including our 2022 AAHOA Convention and Trade Show in Baltimore.”

“I have found my time at AAHOA to be invaluable and I am grateful to our amazing team, officers, board, members and vendor partners for their support,” said Greene. “I would like to thank AAHOA President Vinay Patel for his leadership. I look forward to continuing to work with the AAHOA community in my new role at the IBF, much like my last 20 years in this great industry.”
